Though WED - Trust has grown large in Programme Development and implementation, sp
read out in Four Districts, by promoting Self Help Groups among the WOMEN in BPL Families with Thirty Two staff, but it is still a beginner in infrastructure and other amenties development : the following narrations will enable one to understand how much we require to grow in par with other leading NGO : -
I) Construction of Head Office - Cum - Training Centre :
At present we have Head Office in Arakkonam - Three branch Offices in Kavarapettai, Chennai and Tiruttani - all rented. We conduct Training Programmes for larger Groups under the tree and other smaller ones within the rooms - squeezed - in. Hence, we request for office buildings and Training Centre.
II) Revolving Funds or long term loans with low interest rates :
The Target Population covered under GBS is landless, small and marginal farmers, small vendors and petty traders. We would like to use these funds for the following purposes:-
- For Family needs loan - for 21 % interest rates.
- For Income Generation ( particularly for Dairy and Agro - based Trader for 18 % interest rates ).
- For the construction of houses, low cost latrines, for house renovation etc, for insurance coverage 15% interest rates.
- For professional and technical education of the children of the GBS Members, loans are given for 12% interest rates.
- For accident and other emergencyt purposes - Interest Free loans.
In this 20% of the interest is kept as risk fund, 50% is used for staff and administration and the remaining 30% is contributed to the Manidhan Co - operators which on the other hand is given for the High School Education of the children of the poorer sections among the GBS Members.
III) Computers and Communication Aids :-
Though we are working in Four Districts covering 7800 Members - just during Dec - 04 only, we have bought the computers with Bank Loan still we are using the Block Board during the Training Programmes - hence we need financial assistance for the purchase of computers, overhead projector, CD player, Fax and Xerox machines etc.
IV) Transportation Facilities :-
Since we are covering vast area of operation around 180 KMS radii - we have raised more than 100 million rupees loan from the nationalised banks for our members. Hence we need close monitoring and supervision. For this, we request Two Four Wheelers - for the Organisation. Similarly two wheelers for our staff who travels around 20kms radii everyday.
V) Volunteer From Overseas :
We also invite vo
lunteers from abroad, who are interested to worl with us for gaining some experience and exposure or to do some research on women, health, ecology and Micro - Finance.
If Financial Assistance or any other form of help is extended to WED - Trust for the above enumerated things for Five Years, we shall definitely eliminate POVERTY in Ten Thousand Families and thus make them to join the mainstream and enable them to lead a DIGNIGIED LIFE.
